Take home

I have been working on a take home test since last Tuesday...so my life has been a little preoccupied by that..that is my excuse for the lack of updates this week.

Sometime last week...I think Thursday night...Andy and I were both off, so I decided I wanted to take the dogs to Top Dog, a dog boutique near the mall, to try and find Deuce a stud collar.  Andy came with me as I can not handle both of them in a small room with breakables...  Sadly, there were no stud collars...only spike collars...which I do not want.  However, they had shirts big enough for my young stud of a dog.  So I felt compelled to buy him one:

There was another shirt that I wanted to buy him, it said "I miss my balls" and had a tennis ball and football on it.  Unfortunately they didn't have his size.  :(

Andy then felt bad because Deuce got something and Roo didn't, so he bought her a toy (and they both got a fancy dog treat).  Here is Roo playing with her new toy...I have never seen her lay with back legs like this...so I felt the need to take a picture.  She is so cute!  Look at her little nubby!

So anyway...Friday and Saturday consisted of the usual work day for me.  Sunday was a bitter sweet day though.  It was my last day at the Woodstock location.  I got my job at PetSmart when I was 16 at that store.  I have been there faithfully for 7 years now.  It was time for a change, and for my sanity as I did not get along wonderfully with my manager (we both agree on this subject).  It was sad, but also exciting.  I think it is an honor to be chosen to open a brand new store.  So yay for me!  I will miss working with all of my friends though.

Monday was my first day at the new store (in Canton).  It is a beautiful store.  The grooming salon is awesome.  It's twice as big as the one I am use to.  There aren't as many crates, but there are spaces for more.  I even get my own table way in the back.  :)  My manager is awesome (Marti was my manager before at the Woodstock store...she trained me), and Shelley is from the Woodstock store also... I like her and I get along with her.  I met one girl from the Kennesaw store that will be working part time there...she is nice.  Let's just wait and see how cool the others are!

Today I turn in my take home test.  Woo!  It's my last one for this class.  Andy's brother and his friend are supposed to be coming tonight and staying for just the night.  We will see how that goes..as Deuce is scared of strangers, and this is two dudes he has never met.  Fun times!

Q:  What do you call a fish with 10 eyes?
A: A fiiiiiiiiiish!!

Oops

Ok so it's been a week since I last updated.  I'm bad.  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday SUCKED!!  It was soooo busy and crazy.  I left 30-45 minutes late all three days.  Sunday I left at 5 and had to be back at 7:30 for a two hour meeting.  It didn't even have anything to do with grooming...it was all sales floor stuff.  Lame.

Friday I did meet with Amy to help wrap my head around Differential Equations.  It helped, there are plans to meet her tomorrow for more help.  Either way I hate school.  I have a take home test from Modern I am currently working on as well.

This week has been slow at work.  It's nice, but it also sucks.  My last day at this store is Sunday, and because the grand opening of my new store is next week...all the big wig managers are making their way to that store for the ribbon cutting.  The problem is they are stopping at all of the other stores on their way.  So therefore we have to clean every inch of the place.  As we are slow, we have time to do so...but eventually you have to make up things to clean...because the room is only so large and with 6 people cleaning...you run out of things to do.

The good thing about today is that I only have one class.  Modern was canceled because my prof. has to go to Illinois...Andy is off today too.  The bad thing...I'm sick.  I can't talk and I keep coughing mucus...it's no fun.

Sorry about the delays!

Joke of the day:
So this blonde decides to try to go horseback riding even though she has no idea how to do it. One day, the blonde finds a horse and decides to try it out. She tries to mount the horse several times, but she fails each time. Finally, she successfully mounts the horse when it suddenly starts galloping at a rhythmic speed. Scared, the blonde starts to slowly slip off of the horse. At first, she tried grabbing the mane, but her hand slips and she heads closer to the ground. Then she reaches for the horse’s neck, but she kept slipping. Finally, the blonde decided that jumping off of the horse was the only way to get off. So she leaps but her foot gets caught in the stirrup and she is flung to the ground. By now, the blonde’s head was repeatedly slammed into the ground and she was at the mercy of the horse’s giant hooves. She was just about to lose consciousness when the most lucky thing happened to her:
Dave, an employee at Walmart, sees the situation and unplugs the horse.

Roo

I take Deuce everywhere.  I take him to my parent's house.  I take him to training classes.  Doing errands etc... He may not be the friendliest towards strangers, but he is a good dog.  He doesn't cry in the car, he walks wonderfully on the leash, and he just sits patiently when I need him to.  Roo does not.  She cries that high pitch deafening cry, paces, pulls on the leash, barks, and jumps on people.  Hence...I never take her anywhere.  Well today, she got to places.  She has been "leaking" pee for about two months now.  I thought it was a fluke, but she won't stop.  She doesn't do it on purpose...mostly when she is laying down or sleeping.  So today we took an adventure to the vet.  Turns out this is a common problem with spayed female Dobermans.  Roo now gets to take medicine twice a day for the rest of her life to help her bladder muscles stay strong.  *sigh* So sad.  I took her to PetSmart afterwards to get some attention and treats (and to get cat food and dog toothpaste).  I painted her nails while I was there.  I haven't done that in a while as I ran out of nail polish.  She is so much pretty with her hot pink toe nails.

The rest of today will consist of school.  Blah.  Work has been slow.  I only did one dog on Monday.  And two on Wednesday.  One of the dogs on Wednesday was a Chow Chow though...at least I made money on that dog.

More news later!

Joke of the day:
It's the dead of night and into the front room of a house comes a flash of light. It's burglar Bill and he is holding a torch.
As he looks about for things to take he hears a voice, the voice is saying
"Jesus is watching you".
Obviously startled by this the burglar turns toward the voice and to his surprise he finds a parrot in a cage.
Walking toward the parrot he asks "did you just say something little parrot?".
Yes I did Mr burglar I said "Jesus is watching you".
Well parrot if you think that you are being cleaver by appealing to my conscience you are sadly mistaken, said the burglar.
"No Mr burglar you are missing the point Jesus
IS watching you" said the parrot.
Now I understand Mr parrot is your name is Jesus by any chance?
Oh no Mr burglar my name is Poly, Jesus is the Doberman standing behind you.

Headache

Work work work...that's all I have done.  That and watch the entire first season of Numbers.  That's a good show...for those of you who watch tv.  Thanks Mom for getting me hooked on it!  Spring break is pretty much over.  Obviously I haven't done anything that exciting.  I had a very busy work day today.  I did 7 dogs and two of them were large and hairy.  I got done at 8:30 when we close at 9:00.  I had a huge headache for the last 3 dogs.  It sucked.  And I get to do it again tomorrow!  And now Roo wont go the damn bathroom because Heaven forbid it's raining outside.

Weekend Warriors

Sunday was supper fun.  Hope and I went to the pet fair.  The pet fair is a grooming convention here in Atlanta.  They have anything and everything available for your grooming needs.  Last year I spent a fortune there, this year I was a little more sensible...but I also just didn't need as much.  I bought a couple of blades and an undercoat brush.  The most exciting thing was I got to meet Will...who was a groomer on the show "Groomer Has It".  It's a reality show for groomers...really cool!  He wasn't my favorite person...but it was still cool to meet him!

Monday SUCKED!!!!!!!!  I went to work and groomed two dogs.  Then I had to go the doctor's office.  Remember when I told you about the fingernail?  Yeah, well, dog hair got all up stuck under it and my wonderful managers were scared that I was going to get it infected.  So they had to call the med. care line and they told me I had to go to the doctor for workman's comp.  I spent 4 hours there...  They ended up having to soak the nail four different times because they kept digging in it to get all of the hair out.  In the end, they cut off all of the dead nail (so now I only have half a finger nail), and put me in a lot of pain.  It sucked.  The good thing is that I got to go home early.  Andy came home that same day, so I got to spend the evening with him.

Today Andy and I went to Mom and Dad's house and then drove to a house that a family friend has up for rent.  It was a really cute house with a HUGE fenced in yard.  I'm really excited.  We will move in in May.  Woo!

Joke of the day:
Q.  Why do fish live in salt water?
A.  Because pepper makes them sneeze

House Hunting and Schnauzers

Wednesday consisted of me taking the dogs to day care and going to work.  Nothing exciting.

Thursday was fun though.  I got up and went to Mom's house at 8.  Dad made me  a breakfast sandwich and off we went to go house hunting.  The first house we looked at was for sale for $80,000.  It was labeled as a "fixer upper".  This was an understatement.  I'm pretty sure it was unlivable for the first two months of "fixing up" the place.  It had yellow shag carpet...

We then just drove around to several neighborhoods.  Every time we saw a new street we would drive down it.  We found a few houses.  We were trying to stay close to the highway for convenience sake...but I don't know how that's going to work in the end.  I called a ton of houses and the few that have called me back are either too high in price, or doesn't want any pets, only wants one dog, or doesn't allow Dobermans, poor Roo.  I am still waiting on some houses and we are also going to continue the search on Tuesday.

Friday I slept in.  A little too long actually.  I did get up until 11, and as I had to work at 12:30 I didn't do much of anything.  I haven't slept in in a while though...so it felt good.  Friday night was interesting for about 30 seconds.  At 11 (pm) I was walking the dogs one last time before we went to bed.  About half way through the parking lot I heard a dog barking fairly close to me.  So I stopped and locked both of the dog's flexi leashes so I could locate the other dog. Sure enough this little Schnauzer comes hauling ass around the corner, barking and growling straight at us.  Both of my dogs snapped...they both tried to take out this dog.  Thank God that I had them on short leashes so I could semi keep them under control.  The dog came about 6 to 10 feet in front of us, and as I was preparing to kick this thing as hard as I could to keep it from getting killed, he realized...oh shit, those dogs are bigger then me...and he backed off and circled (still barking mind you).  I yelled for someone to come get their dog and some lady come running out after it yelling at it to get back in the car.  Thankfully the dog listened to her, and went away.  I wanted to yell at her about leash laws, but my nerves were shot.  I was literally shaking.  In the end everything was ok.  But if that dog got any closer, I don't know if I would have turned out the same.  Deuce isn't fond of other dogs anyway...but Roo doesn't like things just sneaking up on us in the dark.  So yeah, good times.

No joke today, just this wonderfully funny video:  "Sleepwalking Fail!"

Texas, Escaped Fugitive, and Bills Oh My!!

Today was an eventful day. It started out this morning with waking up early to take Andy to the airport. He is off to Texas to see his mom and family. He will be back on the 9th. Until then, Deuce gets to sleep on the bed, and they will be my only guard dogs. :)

Then I drove up to the Canton store to see if I could go inside and investigate. Alas, the little worker people wouldn't let me in. So sad. So I drove up to Mom's house and hung out for a while. Then off to go home to go to school.

I eventually left to go to school. When I got there, there were a ton of cop cars all around. Six in one parking lot alone. So I just thought they were doing routine checks or something. I went to the building and sat in the hall to wait for class to start. It turns out there was an escaped larsen convicted man that got away and ran onto campus. So they were looking for him. It was odd. But class was to continue. After about 30 minutes I kept seeing a lot of people leaving the building and I told my friend we were evacuating. Sure enough we were. A couple of minutes later two cops came into our class room and told us to gather our personal belongings and evacuate. Apparently the fugitive was last seen in or around our building. After about 15 minutes of just standing out there, a couple of us decided to go find our next class's prof. so we could see if class was canceled. We never found her, but we found out from other prof.s that class was canceled for the rest of the day! Woohoo! So I said peace out and left.

After that I went home, payed some bills and watched tv. Other then sending Andy off, it was a good day.

Joke of the day:
Q: What do you get when a cold dog sits on a rabbit?
A: A chilly dog on a bun!

Days of Deuce

The past several days were revolved around Deuce.  :)  Friday was his graduation from Intermediate Training Class.  He was the star pupil of two.  Yes he snaps at other dogs.  But he learns, listens and responds WAY better then the other dog in his class.  He even got to do agility jumps at the end.  So cute!  Here is his graduation picture!

And then Saturday was his birthday!  I had to work most of the morning and then I went to Mom and Dad's house for Kayla's (my niece) birthday dinner.  Spaghetti and red velvet cake.  Yummy!  I did get into a little bit of trouble at work.  Stupid bi-polar.  The problem is that everyone else is accepting of this and realizes that I can be a little testy sometimes...everyone except my manager.  Ahh, whatever.

Here is the birthday boy!  With his birthday smores from a doggie boutique.  That's water in the cups...that was Andy's touch to the party!

Roo dressed up for his birthday!  Look at her pretty little tutu.

Deuce ate his like an Oreo. He opened it up and licked out the middle just like an Oreo cookie.
Where as Roo ate hers like a dog eats anything.  She chowed down on it!

So that was the weekend of Deuce!

Joke of the Day:
Q:  Why was the cookie so sad?
A:  He was feeling crumby!
